Insulated Glass Replacement

Foggy Windows? It's a Failed Seal.
And You Don't Need New Windows.

Cloudy glass, moisture between the panes, a broken or popped window seal. Whatever you call it, the fix is the same. We replace just the glass unit and leave your frames, trim, and siding untouched. Usually for a fraction of the cost of new windows.

What Happened to My Window?

The Symptom, the Cause, and the Fix

1

The symptom

Fog, haze, or condensation trapped between the panes of glass that no amount of cleaning will touch. It often starts faint, looks like a dirty window, and slowly gets worse until the whole pane clouds over.

2

The cause

Modern windows hold two panes of glass sealed around an insulating gas. When that seal fails, the gas escapes and humid air seeps in. Along the Front Range, big daily temperature swings make the glass expand and contract over and over, a cycle called solar pumping that wears seals out even on quality windows.

3

The fix

We replace the sealed glass unit inside your existing frame. It goes by many names: insulated glass unit, IGU, thermopane, or simply double pane glass. New glass, new seal, new insulating fill. Your window looks and works like new, and the frame never knew we were there.

Side by side comparison of a foggy double pane window with a failed seal next to an identical window with new clear replacement glass Before: Failed Seal After: New Glass Unit

Same window, same frame. Only the sealed glass unit is new.

The Smart Math

Replace the Glass, Not the Window

Full window replacement makes sense when frames are rotted or failing. When the frame is fine and only the glass has fogged, glass-only replacement gets you the same clear view for far less.

What We Do

Glass-Only Replacement

Typically a fraction of the cost per window
  • Keeps your existing frames, trim, siding, and paint untouched
  • New sealed unit with fresh insulating fill restores energy efficiency
  • Faster turnaround, cleaner install, less disruption
  • Chance to upgrade to far better glass than the original

Full Window Replacement

Often several times the price per window
  • Replaces frame, sash, and glass even when only the glass failed
  • Can disturb siding, trim, drywall, and paint
  • Longer lead times and bigger installation days
  • The right call only when frames are damaged or worn out
While the Glass Is Out, Upgrade It

Choose Better Glass Than Your Window Came With

Every replacement unit we build uses Cardinal LoĒ glass, with microscopic layers of silver that control heat and block UV. More layers mean more comfort and protection. Here are the three we install most.

2 Silver Layers

LoDz-272

The bright, all-around classic

The clearest, brightest option. Its higher solar gain lets winter sun help warm a room, which made it the longtime standard for colder climates. A strong everyday choice with the most natural view.

3 Silver Layers

Lodz-366

The all-climate workhorse

A third layer of silver adds noticeably stronger solar control and 95% UV protection while keeping a bright, neutral view. Cardinal calls it the glass for all climates. A well-balanced step up for sunnier rooms.

4 Silver Layers

Quad LoĒ-452+

Maximum protection, self-cleaning standard

Four silver layers deliver the strongest solar control and lowest emissivity in the entire Cardinal LoĒ family, with a class-leading 99% UV block. The Neat+ self-cleaning coating comes standard. The view is very slightly shaded with a clean, neutral grey tone.

Why we recommend Quad 452+ at this altitude

99% UV protection where it matters most

Our elevation means more intense UV year round. The 452+ blocks 99% of it, protecting hardwood floors, furniture, rugs, and artwork from fading better than any other clear coating we offer.

Neat+ self-cleaning, included

A titanium dioxide layer uses sunlight and rain to loosen and rinse away dirt, repelling roughly 40% more dust and grime. Fewer cleanings, less water, fewer chemicals.

Tames hot west and south windows

Our strongest solar control takes the load off your AC on the big sun-facing windows and sunrooms that overheat even in our dry summers, all without a dark tint.

Built for Front Range winters too

It carries the lowest emissivity in the Cardinal LoĒ family and can pair with an optional interior coating to hold even more heat in on cold nights.

Performance values are typical center-of-glass figures for dual-pane, argon-filled units per Cardinal Glass Industries and NFRC data, and vary with configuration. LoĒ, Quad LoĒ-452+, and Neat+ are trademarks of Cardinal Glass Industries.

Foggy Window Questions, Answered

How do I know if my window seal is broken?
Try to wipe the fog away. If the moisture is on the inside or outside surface, it is normal condensation. If it sits between the panes where you cannot reach it, the seal has failed. Hazy glass, a milky white film, or mineral spots that never clean off are the same story.
Can foggy glass be fixed without replacing the whole window?
Yes. If your frame is in good shape, we replace only the double pane glass unit inside it. You get new glass, a new seal, and new insulating fill while your frame, trim, and siding stay exactly as they are.
What does it cost compared to new windows?
Glass-only replacement typically runs a fraction of the price of a full window replacement, often half or less per window. The bigger your window count, the bigger the gap. Send us photos and we will quote it for free.
What about defogging services that drill the glass?
Defogging vents the moisture through small holes drilled in the glass, but it cannot restore the insulating gas or fix the failed seal. The window looks clearer for a while and keeps losing energy. We replace the unit so the fix is permanent.
Can you match grids, tempered glass, and special shapes?
Yes. We build each unit to match your window, including grids between the glass, tempered safety glass where code requires it, and custom sizes and shapes.
Is it worth upgrading the glass while I'm at it?
Usually, yes. The labor is the same either way, so the upgrade cost is just the difference in glass. Stepping up to a higher Cardinal LoĒ coating means better comfort, lower cooling load on sun-facing rooms, and far better fade protection for floors and furniture.
